Jeanette is an Accredited Member of BACP with a diploma in counselling and a certificate in Advanced Person-Centred Theory from Strathclyde University. Her counselling approach is person-centred from the work of Carl Rogers, and his core belief on the uniqueness of persons to access their own thoughts and feelings if they were provided with a relationship offering a non-directive attitude and core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional regard. She has attended courses which extend her belief in the person-centred method of counselling, including play therapy for children, family therapy, and couple therapy, and continues to update her knowledge and understanding of the person-centred approach and philosophy. Whilst she would not combine other theories of development, with person-centred, she understands and has knowledge of various therapies and would encourage clients to identify their own strategies, but also be able to refer to other counsellors from other modalities if she felt that was more appropriate. She provides her services to individuals, couples and young people, and her particular interest is in helping people towards hearing their own voices, and trusting themselves to know what is best for them. She has counselled people with relationship issues, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, stress, and bereavement. She is on the register of Independent Counsellors (UKRC) which is a register run by the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) for accredited counsellors, and abides by their code of practice and ethics. .
